Mayabeque, Cuba_ Estrella Reina Valdés, resident in Batabanó, sports glory of Mayabeque and Cuba, lives up to its name, she lived in the zenith of the constellation of sport and reigned more than once in one of the most beautiful and difficult disciplines, gymnastics artistic.

Despite her modesty she comments on some of her most important achievements: "I spent seven years in the national team, I participated in two Central American Games in the Dominican Republic in 1974, in Medellin 1978 and in the Pan American Games in 1975."

Estrella has been a methodologist of the competitive system in the coastal territory for 57 years, and besides remembering the emotions of her life as an athlete, she recalls others that are much more important to her, such as her meetings with Fidel.

"Whenever I participated in an event, the Commander had the kindness to receive us to exchange with all the athletes, I also had the chance to see him on several occasions personally, he is a human being worthy of admiration for his values ​​and gifted intelligence", Reina Valdés expressed.

"The emotion of the medals won, the return to the Homeland and the relatives, the pain of setbacks, but no experience compares, according to Estrella Reina, with having talked with the Commander, who from the naivete of her childhood she considered as a giant of light”.
