Fidel's mark is present in each part of Mayabeque. His passage through our province becomes the pride of those of us who make Revolution.

It is known by all that the Finca Santa Elena in Nueva Paz, was the place chosen for the practice of shots with a view to the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes’ Garrisons. The site had all the natural conditions to execute such actions and above all it was a very discreet place.

Then in January 1959, our Commander toured some municipalities of Mayabeque in the triumphant Caravan of Freedom. The people of the once Havana received the bearded combatants who definitely changed the reality of the Island.

And from time to time, the path of Fidel became daily through these areas where he is loved. He visited the municipality of Melena del Sur, once declared the first territory free of illiteracy; together with the researcher Rosa Elena Simeón, he created the National Center for Agricultural Health and opened on July 24, 1968 the Vita Nuova Pasta Company.

He was also one of the precursors to create the Rosa Fe Signet Artificial Insemination Center and visited the Guayabal area in San José de las Lajas on the occasion of the graduation ceremony of 324 university students.

The town of the city of Las Charangas in Mayabeque meant its presence at the opening ceremony of the National Center for the Rehabilitation for the Blind and Visually Impaired and at the National Center for Bio-preparations.

Many other places in this territory and its people, keep the sacred memory of our Commander. The social and human work he founded crystallizes the love of a people who saw him leave for eternity.
