Rolando Oscar Guerrero Bello was born on April 18, 1923, at La Finca Saguaní, Nueva Paz, and on that same site he made his first studies. From peasant and poor origin he worked from an early age, in the then Josefina sugar mill.

He had advanced political ideas, concerned about the situation that existed in the country, and he participated in the founding of the Orthodox Party led by Eduardo Chibás. He was also the founder of the Youth of that Party, so he was a frequent visitor at its offices in Prado.

In 1952 after the coup on March 10 in Cuba given by Batista, along with a group of young people from this municipality and others, he prepared in several places and especially at Santa Elena’s Farm.

The story tells that on Wednesday, July 17, 1953, fulfilling Fidel's directions, Ernesto Tizol travels to Los Palos accompanied by Mario Hidalgo Gato, Tomás David Rodríguez and Rolando Guerrero, with the pretext of taking some measures Tizol went to Santa Elena.

Fidel's assignment was to choose the places where the shooting practice would take place. Guerrero and the rest of the youths walked for hours, the following day the places of the practices were determined.

Rolando Oscar Guerrero Bello participated in the assault on the Moncada Garrison, where he was imprisoned together with Genaro Hernández and José Elizalde (Pepé) they were released after the trial, except two comrades from this municipality,  Manolo Rojo and Manuel Isla who were killed.

Once in freedom, he continued the fight until the triumph of the Revolution, where he became the first Chief of the Rebel Army, he also had several responsibilities within the INRA and other tasks of the Revolution. He worked in the Ministry of Agriculture until his death in November 1987.
