Havana_ The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today congratulated the women of the Island for the International Women's Day, which is celebrated tomorrow, Prensa Latina reports.

'I want to get ahead of the day and congratulate you Cuban woman: grandmother, mother, daughter, sister, friend, comrad, CUBAN, CUBANISIMA HEROIN OF THE RESISTANCE, CREATOR AND ILLUMINATOR OF LIFE. Congratulations and thank you”, he wrote in his account of the social network Twitter, which has 105 thousand followers.

After decades of being celebrated on different days, in 1975, coinciding with the International Year of Women, the United Nations honored for the first time the women of the world on March 8th.

The day will coincide tomorrow in Cuba with the closing of the X Congress of the Cuban Women Federation, an organization that gathers more than four million workers, students and housewives.
