Havana: The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, is making today a working visit of the Council of Ministers to the western province of Matanzas, Prensa Latina reports.

In his social account of the social network Twitter the head of state wrote 'Towards Matanzas to carry out a visit of the Council of Ministers of Cuba to that beautiful province.'

Díaz-Canel in this type of visit checks the progress of compliance with agreements and plans, and provides ideas for the implementation of new projects in the territories.

In addition to exchanging on the ground with the workers and people in general, he reviews essential tasks for the country such as housing construction, food production, and construction materials, among others.

He insists that the country has two priorities: preparation for defense and economic development.

Díaz-Canel highlights the need to concretize the productive chain with tourism and other sectors, promoting a sustainable local development.

In his opinion, local development produces an increase in wages, an improvement in the standard of living of the population of the territory and promotes food sovereignty.

Since his arrival at the presidency a year ago, Díaz-Canel has stressed that the strategy is to work tirelessly with alternatives already designed, without abandoning the objectives set in terms of greater welfare for our people.
