Havana: Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel today reiterated the rejection of restrictions on cultural and educational trips to the Caribbean island, as well as visits with private and other ships announced by the United States (US), Prensa Latina publishes.
The new measures, which enter into force this Wednesday, will intensify the blockade and violate international law, the president said in a message on Twitter.
Washington does not stop in its "perverse desire to bend Cuba," he added in that social network. In addition, he attached a link to an article on the subject published in the local newspaper Granma.
The Department of the Treasury announced the day before that it will not allow cultural and educational trips of contact with the Cuban people, known as 'people to people'.
They included in this section an 'exemption' which establishes that certain group educational visits, previously authorized, may be carried out if the person has already completed at least one transaction related to the trip (such as the purchase of a ticket or accommodation reservation) before today June 5.
According to the statement, the administration of the president, Donald Trump, will prohibit travel to Cuba to private and corporate planes, cruises, sailboats, fishing boats and similars.
The only civil aircraft authorized to go to the Caribbean nation are the commercial ones, which operate under Air Carrier Certificates or other specifications of the Federal Aviation Administration, according to the statement.
The measures respond to the announcements of National Security Advisor, John Bolton, when on April 17 he indicated that new restrictions would be applied to non-family trips to Cuba.
