Havana: President Miguel Díaz-Canel today congratulated the inhabitants of the eastern province of Granma for the designations as venue of the central act for the National Rebellion Day, to be held on July 26, Prensa Latina reports.

On that day, Cubans celebrate the 66th anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks under the leadership of Fidel Castro, driving force of the Cuban Revolution.
"Congratulations to the people of Granma for such a high honor. Now to defend it with work, results and concrete progress”, the president said in his Twitter account.

The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba approved granting the province of Granma the seat of the national event for the anniversary.
