Havana, Cuba: Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez today examined government plans to face climate change and repair roads, Radio Reloj publishes.

Representatives of Holguín province and the Ministry of Education, reported on the actions related to the so-called Life Task (Tarea Vida) for the confrontation to climate change, with the dumping of sand on beaches and construction of protective works on coastal lines.

In addition, in that territory they promote the reforestation of mangroves, the improvement and conservation of soils, and the use of seed varieties resistant to drought.

Similarly, officials of the Ministry of Education reported the incorporation of the Life Task curriculum of the educational system; as well as in events and research projects in Cuban universities and other educational centers.

Cuban President reviews the state of the roads

Diaz-Canel also reviewed the plan for the construction, repair and maintenance of roads.

At the meeting it was reported that more than 9 thousand kilometers of vials were subject to some type of maintenance action; however, there is still dissatisfaction with the state of the roads due to the unstable availability of resources such as cement, asphalt mix and steel.

For this year and until 2030, they maintain as priorities in the country, the works of the tourism sector, of the Mariel Special Development Zone, and others of economic and social interest; for example, the National Highway, it transcended.

Díaz-Canel urged to analyze the experiences in the construction of houses with the local production of materials, and reiterated the need to promote the transportation of cargo by railways.
