Havana: The president of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, checked this week the progress of the investments made in the tourism sector, of crucial importance for the development of the country, Radio Reloj publishes.

Díaz-Canel was accompanied by the member of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Mercedes López Acea, as well as the minister of the sector, Manuel Marrero Cruz and authorities of the different ministries and agencies linked to that strategic activity.

"This year it is intended to incorporate more than 3,600 rooms in 25 new hotels and the expansion of another four," Marrero said.

Work coordination with the non-state sector is also progressing and cultural tourism is promoted by strengthening links with the authorities of the sector and the Paradiso agency.
