Caracas_ Authorities in the Venezuelan state of Zulia have arrested more than 500 people, including Colombian paramilitaries, who were accused of looting after the sabotage on the power system, Prensa Latina reports.
Governor Omar Prieto noted that it is a multiform war waged by the United States against Venezuela.
At a meeting with civil and military authorities on Thursday, the regional leader informed about the actions taken in Zulia after the sabotage on March 7, as a result of which the country was in darkness for more than 100 hours.
Prieto also denounced the involvement of individuals from the states of Falcon, Carabobo, Aragua and Tachira in violent actions.
The attack on the power system caused food and water shortages, particularly in the capital of Zulia, Maracaibo, according to Prieto.
'We are aware of vandalism, but also of the need of the people who were subjected to a psychological attack that dismembered the possibility of keeping peace and quiet,' the governor said.
Those events confirmed that the attacks and persecutions will continue to rob Venezuela of security for its children, he charged.
