Caracas_ The Venezuelan people today maintain the premise of defending the sovereignty and peace of the South American country under any circumstance, in the face of the electrical coup d'état in development, assured President Nicolás Maduro.

'I make a repeated appeal to all Venezuelans, to the revolutionary and patriotic people, to defend peace in every corner, parish, municipality, avenue, community and neighborhood. They are not going to take away our sovereignty; we are going to replenish the electrical system of these bestial attacks of imperialism”, emphasized the president on the national radio and television, the day before, Prensa Latina reports.

From the Miraflores Palace (headquarters of the Executive), the head of state exhorted to face the destabilizing actions of the opposition, which intends by means of violence, to deliver the nation's wealth to the United States Government (USA), under the pretext of a supposed humanitarian crisis.

In a work meeting held to address the energy contingency after the repeated attacks on the generation and transmission system, Maduro said that the sectors of the right have as their objective 'to burn the country to reach political power'.

"We are truly in a serious emergency situation”, said the president, who repudiated the claims of the perpetrators and intellectuals of these attacks to lead the territory to a civil war.

In this sense, he rejected small violent outbreaks reported last Sunday in Caracas, where criminal groups tried to sabotage the supply of drinking water to the population through the use of tanker trucks.

The authorities make a great effort together with workers in the sector to shield the national electricity system against future sabotage, while the Bolivarian National Armed Forces maintains deployment in order to ensure the protection of networks, water tributaries and public safety, Maduro said.

The government decisions began to be implemented on March 7, when the Simón Bolívar hydroelectric plant, located in the Guri dam, Bolívar state, went out of service due to a series of cybernetic, electromagnetic and physical attacks.

Likewise, on Monday, March 25, criminal hands caused a fire in the transformers' yard of the main electric power plant in Venezuela, through the use of snipers from an elevation near the facility, according to preliminary investigations.

These actions, described as terrorist by the national government, led to the suspension of work and teaching activities for more than 15 days, thus affecting the productivity of the nation and the educational and cultural development of Venezuelan children and youth.
