Caracas: As a result of the blockade that Venezuela faces today, in an instrument of the United States (US) to overthrow the government of Nicolás Maduro, another child died when he did not have access to a bone marrow transplant, Prensa Latina reports.

The executive secretary of the National Council of Human Rights, Larry Devoe, reported through the social network Twitter that the surgical intervention was not carried out due to the suspension of the agreement of the state-owned company Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa) with an Italian hospital located in Argentina.

'The boy, aged seven, had acute lymphoblastic leukemia and is the second death of an infant in a situation of waiting for bone marrow transplantation, because this procedure is performed by the agreement between Venezuela and Italy, which was suspended after the sanctions of the president, Donald Trump, that hinders the cancellation of the corresponding payments”, Devoe wrote.

The unilateral and coercive measure of Washington against the South American country implies a violation of human rights, the diplomat stressed last week.

On several occasions, international banks cancel and leave without effect the transfers requested by PDVSA and other institutions valued at 4 million 851 thousand 278 euros, destined to the treatment of chronic patients, Devoe explained.

In that sense, a group of mothers of children with severe liver diseases asked the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, to act immediately for the White House to lift sanctions against the Venezuelan population, said the chancellery in a press release.
