Harare_ Cuba thanked Zimbabwe for its constant support for the struggle against the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States has maintained against that Caribbean country for more than half a century.

This statement was made in that capital by Ambassador Carmelina Ramírez during a meeting with representatives of the local press, on the occasion of the presentation of the annual report of Cuba to the Secretary General of the United Nations on the effects that these unjust measures of Washington have on the economic and social sectors of her nation.

The Cuban diplomat denounced the resurgence of the US blockade against Cuba, which in the last year increased the persecution of the island's financial operations with extreme sanctions against foreign banks for having business relations with that State.

The blockade, said the Ambassador of Cuba in Zimbabwe, represents a flagrant violation of the human rights of all our people.

During the press conference, the Cuban representative pointed out that the government of Washington ignores the international community's demand for an end to punitive measures against Cuba, an issue that gets the support of the United Nations General Assembly every year.

In this regard, the Ambassador said that Cuba will not abandon its principles and will not fail to present its claims about the total elimination of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

For this reason, the resolution titled Need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba will be presented on October 31 before the General Assembly during the 73rd session of the UN, to begin the coming week.
