The economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba is a genocidal weapon that has acted with impunity throughout history.

With total violation of the International Law, it has the objective of intentionally submitting our people to conditions of existence that cause total or partial damage.

The economic cost calculated in prices does not reflect as a whole the real impact on the economy or the human suffering caused.

The loss of life due to the absence and high cost of medications and the psychological impact are some of the disastrous consequences suffered.

There are numerous the affectations provoked year after year in the National Health System:

     · The lack of cytostatic and other medications, prostheses and supplies mainly in the oncopediatric in different health institutions.

     ·  Difficulties in obtaining the gene sequencer at the National Genetics Center.

     ·  Negatives for the purchase of diagnostic markers and forecasts of high-rate cerebrovascular diseases in the country.

     ·  Difficulties to obtain products and instruments for the dermatology department of the "Hermanos Ameijeiras" clinical-surgical hospital.

     ·  The ophthalmology services cannot apply the Transpupillary Thermal Therapy to cure the cancer of the retina and achieve the conservation of the eyes in the affected children.

However, there is a system of free, accessible and regionalized medical attention based on primary health care as an integrating strategy, in order to face all the affectations derived from the blockade.

As Fidel Castro expressed in Montevideo, Uruguay, in the year 1995: "The blockade is cruel, it is hard, it is a measure imposed against the people, against men, women, children; the blockade is even a genocidal act”.
