Caracas_ The headquarters of the Bolivarian University of Venezuela (UBV), located in this capital, will host the forum #NoMásBloqueo in rejection of the unilateral and coercive measures imposed by the United States against Cuba for more than five decades, Prensa Latina reports.
The speakers of the event will be the ambassador of the Caribbean island in Caracas, Rogelio Polanco, and the rector of the UBV, César Trompiz, who will explain to the participants the marked extraterritorial nature of the blockade.
In that sense, the then US president, John F. Kennedy, ordered the Secretary of the Treasury at that time to promulgate all the necessary measures and regulations to enforce the prohibition of imports into the United States of products of Cuban origin and all imports from or through Cuba.
The Cuban authorities characterize the blockade as a genocidal act of economic warfare, which not only affects the development of the nation, but also that of companies or citizens of third countries.
"This result responds to the fact that the conditions have not changed at all, on the contrary, the actions against Cuba, victim for more than half a century of a strong persecution of financial transactions, were reinforced”, the diplomat said.
To this is added the additional measures of the Donald Trump administration that impede the development of commercial relations between the two countries and also makes it more difficult to exchange and travel between the citizens of both nations, he added.
The latest decisions of the US president constitute a flagrant systematic violation of human rights, both for Cubans and for Americans, Polanco said.
