Havana_ The president of Cuba, Miguel DÃaz-Canel, called today for an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States (US) government has kept against the Caribbean island for almost six decades, Prensa Latina reports.
"We will keep claiming without rest, the end of the cruel economic, commercial and financial blockade against  #Cuba and the just compensation to our people for the economic and material damage caused in so many years of aggression. #NoMasBloqueo #UnblockCuba #SomosCuba ', wrote the head of state on his Twitter account @DiazCanelB.
On October 31, the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) will vote for a twenty-seventh consecutive year on a draft resolution calling for the end of the US siege.
Since 1992, the initiative has had a majority support in the main deliberative body of the multilateral organization.
On the last three occasions, 191 of the 193 UN member states supported the project, while the 2017 vote only registered opposition from the US and Israel.
For 26 years, the international community supports similar initiatives in the multilateral organization, where the US siege receives qualifications such as crime, injustice, violation of human rights, obstacle to development and relics of the Cold War.
