Havana_ Salvador Sánchez Cerén, President of the Republic of El Salvador, conveyed a greeting to the Cuban people upon arrival in Havana, Granma reports.

At the José Martí International Airport, the dignitary valued the strengthening of bilateral relations between both nations.

He told the press about the 12 projects in common between Cuba and his country that began after the first official visit made by him to the Island in 2015 and of which seven have been concluded so far.

He highlighted the support provided by the largest of the Antilles to that nation through Operation Miracle, which has helped 20,000 Salvadorans to recover their sight. He also referred to the "I can do" method, thanks to which 330,000 people in that country have been alphabetized.

The distinguished visitor spoke out against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States (USA) for almost six decades and offered his unconditional support.

On the migratory situation in Latin America, he expressed his disagreement with the policies of the US president regarding the Honduran caravan of migrants that intends to reach the United States. He also criticized the threats of President Donald Trump to cut financial aid to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador if they do not stop the advance of these people.

Among the activities scheduled as part of Sánchez Cerén's agenda, are conversations with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez. He will also visit the José Martí Memorial, where he will pay homage to the Apostle and will arrive at the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery in Santiago de Cuba to pay tribute to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.
