Cuba_ The blockade imposed by the United States government on Cuba caused, during the period 2017-2018, damages to the Cuban Aviation Corporation (CACSA) and to the companies that comprise it for more than 63 million dollars, Granma reports.

In the case of the airline Cubana de Aviación, these effects corresponded, among other aspects, to the impossibility of acquiring the operating license for the transfer of passengers and cargo to and from the United States, said Arsenio Arocha Elias-Moisés, deputy director of the company.

This hostile policy, he said, also prohibits the acquisition of technologies, equipment, parts and other inputs for aircraft, maintenance and repair, and these obstacles require market seeking in more distant countries, and expensive prices, freight and insurance.

With respect to online ticket sales, a payment gateway is required, whose function is to deduct the value of the passengers' credit card ticket and deposit it in the provider's bank account.

The entity had to change its provider for this service twice, as it was unable to manage an acquiring bank to process the VISA and MasterCard funds on behalf of the company. This generated an increase in expenses in the management, about 22 million dollars for damages to Cubana de Aviación, Arsenio Arocha said.

On the other hand, the airline indirectly charges the tariffs in the distribution system, since the company in charge of publishing them (Airline Tariff Publishing Company) and its main facilities are located in the international airport of the US capital.
