Paris_ The France-Cuba Solidarity Association sent a letter to the head of the European diplomacy, Federica Mogherini, to denounce the intention of the United States to modify the application of the Helms Burton Law and to toughen the blockade.

As published by Radio Habana Cuba, in the letter, the organization deplored what constitutes, in defamatory and disrespectful language, a hostile act of extreme arrogance and irresponsibility.

Thus it referred to the announcement, on January 16, of the State Department to suspend for only 45 days, instead of the usual six months, the application of Title III of that regulation.

This would imply, the text added, that any citizen of Cuban origin could file lawsuits with the US courts to demand the restitution of property prior to 1959, even without having to justify the title act.

"In addition to being inhumane, it would be an unforgivable attack on Justice, unworthy of a great nation," the letter said.

The association noted that as citizens of the European Union, they denounce that this toughening of a law designed to codify and aggravate the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba in 1962 is, by its extraterritoriality, contrary to the provisions of the International Law and the practice of international relations.

In this regard, it argued that the application of Title III of the Helms Burton Act would seriously damage the interests of the European persons and entities that established legitimate business in the largest of the Antilles.

The letter denounced the will of the first world power to impose a wicked, ferocious and obsolete blockade on a small country of 11 million inhabitants with the aim of desiring its people and bending it to the will of its great neighbor.
