Neville Melvin Gertze, permanent representative of Namibia at the United Nations, said that when the United Nations Organization (UN) was created, this body was established to achieve the maintenance of the peace of nations “This body was not founded to cause damage to the world and that is why I would like to talk about the need to end the blockade and unequivocally demand its elimination”, Cubadebate publishes.

The diplomat said that Namibia joins the many speakers who express the illegality of the blockade because it is contrary to the United Nations Charter and goes against the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

"A few years ago we were pleased by the actions of the United States, but today we are sad about the new measures announced by the US administration and take notes of the new negative policies against the Caribbean country and urge the United States to reconsider those measures," he added.

The representative commented that for his country the Cuban people are family and that despite all the limitations they have faced, the Caribbean nation is an example for the world.

"How much more could the people of the world and the United States benefit when the blockade is removed?", he questioned.
