Brussels: The Belgian association Friends of Cuba condemned the policy of aggression against the Caribbean island carried out by the United States government (USA), Prensa Latina reports.
In its 50th General Assembly, the organization said it joins the protests registered around the world against the activation of Title III of the Helms Burton Act, a fact aimed at intensifying the blockade of Washington against the Caribbean nation.
This section allows US nationals to sue before the justice of that country persons and entities, even from third countries, that invest in Cuban territory in nationalized properties after the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.
This could affect European companies or other countries present, another example of the extraterritorial scope of the blockade.
The entity demanded "the government of Belgium and the European Union to put into practice all available means to support and help its citizens and companies, as well as to oppose all legal processes that are opened in the United States."
Likewise, its members invited all democratic organizations to reinforce solidarity with the Cuban Revolution, which he described as "more necessary than ever" in the face of the criminal blockade, the threats, and the policy of destabilization implemented against all the countries and progressive movements of Latin America.
