Havana: The Canadian Reverend Crhistopher Levan today expressed his rejection of the resurgence of the US (US) hostility policy toward Cuba, Prensa Latina reports.
The religious, member of the United Church of Canada (IUC), condemned the recent decision of the US president, Donald Trump, to apply Title III of the controversial Helms-Burton Law against the people of the Island.
"The activation of Title III is part of the broader and more current position of US foreign policy," said Levan, describing Washington's attitude toward Havana as "obstinate."
Postponed every year since 1996 by both Democratic and Republican leaders, the controversial legislative section was put into effect by the White House on May 2.
From that moment on, legal doors were opened to US citizens to file claims against individuals and entities, which invest in nationalized properties in the Caribbean nation, following the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.
The international community expresses its growing repudiation of the Helms Burton Act, as it intensifies and codifies the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the largest of the Antilles by successive US governments for almost six decades.
