This November 26, a few hours after the homage paid by the people of Cuba to Fidel on the first anniversary of his physical disappearance, thousands of citizens from Mayabeque go to the polls to elect the delegates to the municipal assemblies of the Popular Power.

On this occasion, the exceptional registration is also valid, which, as its name indicates, refers to those voters who for reasons like sickness, provision of services or fulfillment of tasks that cannot be put off, are not able to attend the polling stations they correspond to.

Through this procedure, they are given the possibility of exercising the right to vote in electoral colleges located in hospitals or bus and train terminals, among other high-concurrency points.

Because to exercise the suffrage for a Cuban, more than five decades after the revolutionary triumph, is much more important than the mere fact of proposing a conformity with any proposal.

It is putting into the hands of the most capable the direction of the municipality and the intelligent orientation of the progress of a socialist project, more just than any other lived by humanity at any time.

It is to dedicate ourselves, with seriousness and responsibility, to defining the future of a nation that wakes up every day betting on a better world for every living being on Earth.

Güines’ electors trust in the widely democratic, participatory and popular process where the 161 proposals for the delegates to the local assembly were chosen and selected.

They represent all sectors of our society: youth, peasants, soldiers, artists, athletes, intellectuals, without distinction of race, sex or level of education, which demonstrates a high expression of equality and social justice achieved during these years of Revolution.

The call for a vote of all with a massive and timely participation in these elections, is not a slogan, but a political strategy that means the vote for the Motherland.
