In the life of the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, November 25th has been marked by dissimilar events, among which stand out, for example, the departure to Cuba aboard the Granma yacht in 1956 and, when twenty years later, he was awarded the first medal "XX Anniversary of the Revolutionary Armed Forces". 

November 25, 1955

• María Antonia González travels from Mexico City to meet Fidel in Tampa. She gave him news from Raúl, Montané and Melba. They tell him about the latest events in Mexico and about reports received from Cuba about the possibility of an attack against him.

November 25, 1956

• Along with Raúl Castro, Camilo Cienfuegos, Ernesto Guevara and 78 other expedition members he leaves towards Cuba from the Mexican port of Tuxpan aboard the "Granma" yacht, with the intention of restarting the armed struggle in the mountains of the Sierra Maestra.

• He writes the Reflection: "Hugo Chávez's speech", where he recounts President Chávez's forceful response to the provocation launched at the meeting that took place in the United States Capitol among a group of legislators of the fascist right of that country and leaders of the oligarchic and coup right of Latin America, where the overthrow of the governments of Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua was discussed.

• He died in Havana, Cuba at 10:29 in the evening at the age of 90. In compliance with his will, his remains were cremated.
