Havana_ The celebrations in Cuba for the 92nd birthday of Fidel Castro, acquire today a greater significance with the beginning of the popular consultation on the draft Constitution, where his political legacy is present, Prensa Latina publishes.
According to the young Nadia Hernández, there is no better tribute for the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution than this exercise, since it exalts the democratic character of the social and humanistic project that the country is defending since January 1, 1959 when Fidel and his companions defeated definitively the dictator Fulgencio Batista and they gave power to the people.
Since then, she said, leaded by that ‘young bearded guerrilla', Cuba obtained achievements in all sectors of society, despite the obstacles coming from the United States as the economic, commercial and financial blockade that has been maintained for more than half century and the biological aggressions, the plans of assassinations to its leaders, the multiple sabotages and terrorist actions, even an unsuccessful military invasion.
Even with these attacks, the Island achieved, thanks to the process of social transformation led by Fidel, praiseworthy results in health, education, sports, science, biotechnology, and in other spheres, which located the low-income Caribbean country economic activities in one of the top places internationally in terms of the development of these sectors, she said.
Maricel Herrera commented that Cubans showed the possibility of developing and living in a dignified way, with independence and sovereignty; In addition, the figure of Fidel was raised as the great and courageous statesman by installing, a short distance from the United States, an alternative project to capitalism weighted by the northern country.
Likewise, she said, the historical leader of the Island is considered a world-class man and for all times, for his ideas related to the internationalization of knowledge, the importance of culture in human development, the defense of the unity of all the peoples of the world and of the reciprocal collaboration between countries.
Such precepts of Fidel along with anti-imperialist, internationalist and anti-capitalist principles are banners of the Cuban Revolution, and we are called to preserve and strengthen them for the good of the future of the country and our children, she said.
In addition, she pointed out, that they are contemporary bastions for the leftist governments and progressive movements of the world in their struggle to achieve a better society in their countries.
Likewise, Pedro Rodríguez highlighted the unprecedented fact that the popular consultation means as it includes the guidelines of the Concept of Revolution, pronounced by the historic leader on May 1, 2000 at the ceremony held in Havana for the International Workers Day.
This definition, he said, should be impregnated like a bible for the revolutionaries of Cuba and the rest of the world, because it synthesizes the political behavior and the objectives that the battle must focus on in the pursuit of freedom and respect for the rights of man as well as in the consolidation of unity and social cohesion, he said.
With his spiritual attachment to the ideology of the National Hero José Martí, Fidel manifests in that concept the importance of ideas and hard and consistent work to advance in the fulfillment of duty despite the obstacles of the enemies of the Cuban system.
Rodriguez said that Fidel also raises the importance of ethics and values such as transparency, honesty, loyalty and commitment in the daily work to a higher level.
Therefore, in that direction and with the axiom of changing everything that must be changed, with conscience and maintaining commitment to the Homeland, this new democratic process points to the immersion of the people under the principle of independence that guided the martyrs who gave their lives for the freedom of Cuba and the moral, political and ideological investiture of our Commander Fidel Castro, he said.
