On August 13, 1923, Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz was born in Birán, a man who would mark the present and future of Cuba.
Among its main feats are to have secretly organized a movement of young people, students and workers who launched without fear to the struggle on July 26, 1953 to not let the Apostle's ideas die in the year of his centenary.
He also prepared the Granma yacht expedition, the war waged in the Sierra Maestra to achieve the true independence and sovereignty of the Island and built a revolution with the humble, of the humble and for the humble just 90 miles from the enemy.Â
Our Commander in Chief also eradicated illiteracy, discrimination and poverty in Cuba. He directed and participated in all the actions to defend the country from military aggressions such as the mercenary invasion of Playa Girón, where in just 72 hours the Yankee imperialism suffered its first major defeat in Latin America.
He was the promoter of health programs in several countries of the world. Under his undisputed guidance, the Cuban people have resisted for more than 50 years the economic blockade imposed by the United States.
He was the main architect of the economic, social, educational and health transformations, all aimed at consolidating the Cuban revolutionary process.
We will never forget his permanent link with the masses, his brilliant oratory, his unlimited delivery to the cause of the Revolution and his efforts for Latin American unity.
Although he is no longer physically among us, his example constitutes a paradigm for present and future generations of Cubans. For all the above we consider that Fidel is a man of all time.
