Baku: Cuban President Miguel DÃaz-Canel arrived in the capital of Azerbaijan, which hosts the XVIII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (Mnoal), Prensa Latina publishes.
DÃaz-Canel arrived in the city of Baku from Minsk, capital of Belarus, where he made an official visit. It was the second stop of a tour that began in Ireland and will end in Russia.
The ruler was received at the international airport 'Heydar Aliyev' by Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov and also, by the chancellor of the island, Bruno Rodriguez and the Cuban ambassador in Azerbaijan, Alfredo Fidel Nieves.
It is the first time that a president of Cuba visits this Euro-Asian nation, with about 10 million inhabitants, an ancient history and valuable oil and gas resources.
With his participation in the summit, Diaz-Canel reaffirms the commitment to the Movement.
