Havana: Cuba’s President, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, presided the 20th anniversary celebration of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), in the west part of this capital, Prensa Latina publishes.

This integration project is the result of the thought and political will of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, and in its 15 graduations he trained almost 30,000 young people from more than a hundred countries, including some 180 from the United States.

The ELAM project is part of the Comprehensive Health Program, with which Cuba jointly extends medical collaboration to several countries, and is an example of what a poor nation can do.

Also present at the ceremony were the Vice President of the Council of Ministers, Roberto Morales Ojeda, the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, and the rector of the ELAM, Dr. Antonio López Gutiérrez.
