Havana: Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel met on Monday with Rudelmar Bueno and James E. Winkler, general secretaries of the Joint Alliance of Churches and the National Council of Churches of Christ of the United States, respectively.

Present at the meeting were Brazilian theologian Frei Betto, and Antonio Santana and Joel Ortega, president and executive secretary of the Council of Churches of Cuba, respectively, the website of the Presidency reported.

During the cordial and respectful meeting, participants dealt with issues related to the urgency of climate and gender justice, as well as the fight against religious, economic, social and political fundamentalisms.

Also present at the meeting was Caridad Diego, head of the Religious Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
