Gabriel Gil Alfonso, was born on March 24, 1924, in a rustic house located on the outskirts of Casiguas, municipality of Jaruco. Coming from a humble family, he was the tenth of twelve brothers. He could only reach the third grade, at ten years of age and worked with his father in the harsh tasks of the field. Looking to improve the economic situation he moved to Havana.

Rolando Oscar Guerrero Bello was born on April 18, 1923, at La Finca Saguaní, Nueva Paz, and on that same site he made his first studies. From peasant and poor origin he worked from an early age, in the then Josefina sugar mill.

His loyalty to Fidel and Raúl was infinite, a simple man, modest, with an affable, generous and vertical behaviour in his principles. Genaro Hernández Martínez worked as an agricultural worker and cane cutter in Nueva Paz.
