New York__ Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has warned of the presence of scammers posing as Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents trying to trick and defraud undocumented immigrants by threatening them with the expulsion of the country, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
Schneiderman affirmed In an official statement that his office received a large number of complaints in that regard, underlining that alleged officials require different sums of money.
The prosecutor assured that it is inconceivable of people taking advantage of the fear of the immigrant community and urged the citizens to learn to know the methods of fraud and to inform in case of suspicion.
In this respect, the official clarified that an authorized agent of the ICE will never ask for money or will endanger someone's legal situation if there is not payment and strengthen that none of them has the authority to enter a home without an order signed by a judge.
The alert comes after a series of raids across the country that allowed the detention of hundreds of undocumented people and caused panic among the population.
In this situation, non-governmental organizations such as United We Dream, which fights for the rights of immigrants, launched campaigns that teach what to do in case of a raid.
