Cuba_ The Cuban press highlights today the denunciation made in Lima by the government representative of the Island to the VIII Summit of the Americas Juan Antonio Fernández, who rejected the presence of mercenaries in that meeting, Cubadebate publishes. Â
The newspapers Granma, the largest circulation newspaper in the country, and Juventud Rebelde, the radio stations Radio Reloj and Radio Rebelde, the television information system and other digital and printed media echo the position assumed by the diplomat in one of the forums framed in the hemispheric summit, which installs its high-level segment on Friday.
Fernandez affirmed that Cuba will not accept the presence of mercenaries or dialogue with terrorists, in reference to the participation of counterrevolutionaries of Cuban origin at the service of the United States in a meeting of civil society with government representatives attending the summit of the Peruvian capital.
Granma recalls that Fernandez repeatedly asked for the floor in the forum, but the organizers refused to open his microphone, so he was forced to explain to the room the position of the Island after the leaders of the Organization of the American States (OAS), entity that guaranteed the assistance of the mercenaries, have abandoned the installation.
Cuban media also highlights the firmness and patriotic commitment of the representatives of civil society from the largest of the Antilles who traveled to the Peruvian capital to participate in the events framed in the VIII Summit.
