Havana, Cuba: The new Magna Carta of the Republic of Cuba, endorsed on February 24, will be proclaimed today in an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP).

According to the Cuban News Agency, the event will take place at the Havana Convention Center, 150 years after the approval of the Constitution of Guáimaro, the first of the Government of the Republic in Arms.

The Parliament's deputies, who played an important role in the drafting of the text and approved it unanimously on December 22, 2018, will be present at this transcendental moment in the history of the nation.

In accordance with the ideas of the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel, the ANPP must prepare itself to carry out a broad legislative exercise, and implement as soon as possible all the laws that reinforce the Charter. Magna

On the Law of laws, the president has expressed in different scenarios that guarantees the rights of each and every one of the citizens of the nation, enhances the dignity of the people and it is anti-imperialist.

At the close of the II Ordinary Period of Sessions of the Ninth Legislature of the ANPP, he said that the text reaffirms the socialist course of the Revolution and allows the work of the State, the Government, the organizations and all the people to be channeled into the continuous improvement of the society.

The new Magna Carta, subject to a broad and participatory popular consultation, has among its great achievements to cover the continuity of the achievements of the Revolution such as free education and health, recognize effective citizenship and expand the range of rights, among many others.

Endorsed with the positive vote of six million 816 thousand 169 voters, the document has 229 articles, 11 titles, two special provisions, 13 transitory and two final.
