Havana, Cuba_ The Guidelines for the Economic and Social Policy approved in 2011 were updated for the period 2016 to 2021 after the discussions in the commissions of the Seventh Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Radio Havana Cuba publishes.

In the event, which takes place since April 16 to 19 at the Convention Palace in Havana, the participants endorsed the resolution presented by the third commission, which approved the report on the results of the implementation of the guidelines and their update.

Thus, it was agreed to maintain, modify or integrate with each other 87.5 percent of those ratified five years ago at the Sixth Congress, which together with the 44 added in the discussions held to this meeting and the six that emerged during these debates, makes a total of 274 guidelines divided into 13 chapters.

The 312 delegates and 112 guests present at the third commission, the largest of the four in the Congress, made 116 interventions that generated 52 proposals, of which 37 were approved, as announced when its work report was presented in the plenary.

This way were included new guidelines related to accounting as a tool for decision-making, the role of foreign direct investment in the introduction the introduction of advanced technology and technology parks in the country, and the improvement of the Peoples Power’s bodies, among other topics.

The resolution states that these indicators express the continuity of the process begun five years ago as a result of massive popular participation, which is coherent with the conceptualization of economic and social model and the development of the National Development Plan until 2030.
