Havana, Cuba_ The 995 delegates attending the Seventh Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), opened this Saturday in the Cuban capital, discussed this afternoon, four commissions, the main documents of the event, Radio Havana Cuba reports.

Army General Raul Castro, First Secretary of the Party, stressed the importance of carrying out deep discussions on the documents, including those related with the conceptualization of the Cuban economic and social model of socialist development, as well as the basis for the national plan of economic and social development until 2030.

The delegates will also discuss the progress of the implementation of the guidelines adopted at the Sixth Congress, their results and the updating of those guidelines.

Equally they are to assess the work of the Party in the fulfillment of the goals set by the First Conference, in a scan for a sharp look on the progress and the dissatisfactions.

According to Raul, those are comprehensive and highly complex materials that will set the course of the Cuban revolutionary process, the Party and society forward in the construction of a prosperous and sustainable socialism.

"The document on the conceptualizing and bases of the national development plan, after the analysis in this Congress, will be democratically debated by the militancy of the Party, the UJC, the representatives of the mass organizations and large sectors of society, in order to enrich and improve then”, the First Secretary of the Party announced.

He asked the Congress to authorize the Central Committee elected to introduce the modifications resulting from the consultation process and its final approval, including the appropriate adjustments to the guidelines.

The reports of the different commissions will be discussed on Monday at the Conventions Palace, headquarters of the partisan appointment until 19 April.
