Mayabeque, Cuba: Marti’s thought: “To educate is to prepare man for life”, presided over the gala for Educator’s Day held at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Mayabeque.
The member of the Provincial Bureau of the Party, Fredy Díaz Pérez, the General Secretary of the Bureau of the Health Union in the territory, Odalis Marrero Hernández, and the Director of Health in Mayabeque, the Doctor in Sciences Idalberto Aguilar Hernández.
On this day of celebration, four teachers were recognized with the Medal: “Manuel Piti Fajardo”, for his uninterrupted dedication to the profession for 20 and 25 years.
The Academic Vice Dean, Dr. Elba Torres Martínez, expressed her satisfaction at receiving such a high distinction: “For me, this recognition has been very important in this sector where we are constantly vulnerable and facing all adversities to raise the quality of life of the patients”.
The professors and non-teaching staff of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Mayabeque during this stage of the pandemic, attended the investigation in the neighborhoods, the Covid hospitals and the vaccination centers. For this reason, 40 outstanding workers were recognized.
In addition, stamps were awarded: to humanism, sensitivity and solidarity during Covid-19. An emotional moment at the Gala was the remembrance of the teachers who died in the year.
Exclusively for Radio Mayabeque, the Provincial Director of Health, Doctor of Science Idalberto Aguilar Hernández, said: “I consider it important to congratulate the work team that has coordinated and organized this tribute to all health educators in our territory. A Martian precept says that a good teacher never forgets and his teachings last a lifetime.
Perhaps, some of our students like me, who had the opportunity to be the result of training in this Faculty of Medical Sciences of Mayabeque, could forget a class, but we will never forget each of the teachers we had, in such important recognition, in homage to the 60th anniversary of having been Cuba free of illiteracy ”.
