Havana, Cuba: The Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero, today recognized the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex), regarding the celebration on this day of the 62nd anniversary of the creation of that body, Prensa Latina publishes.
In his official Twitter account, the head of government pointed out that the work of the Foreign Ministry, which “represents and defends the principles of our country in the international arena, is worthy of recognition.”
Also on that platform, the head of the Minrex, Bruno Rodríguez, stressed that there are more than six decades of dignity, loyalty and commitment to the people and the Revolution.
“Revolutionary diplomacy thus celebrates a new anniversary, with pride and determination to continue defending Cuba and our project,” the minister wrote.
The Minrex was established on December 23, 1959 by Decree of the Revolutionary Government, replacing the Ministry of State, a dependency created from the time of the first North American occupation (1899-1902) and designed to serve the interests of the United States Government.
The organization’s mission is to carry out Cuba’s foreign policy and promote the principles, values and interests that sustain it, in defense of International Law, respect for the sovereignty and self-determination of the peoples and the equality of the States, in addition to the rejection of interference in internal affairs.
