Presidente de Cuba califica de robo retención de oro venezolano.

Havana: The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today described the retention of Venezuelan gold by the Bank of England as blatant theft, in an attempt to prop up the opposition leader Juan Guaidó, Prensa Latina publishes.

“As in the times of (Francis) Drake and (Henry) Morgan, gold is their company and nothing else?, Nicolás Guillén’s verses say about United States Marines, Díaz-Canel wrote on his account on the social network Twitter.

Nothing better to describe blatant theft of Venezuelan gold to prop up the empire’s puppet, added the president with the labels #ManosFueraDeVenezuela, #SomosCuba and #SomosContinuidad.

The vice president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, denounced the day before that the organization led by Guaidó intends to appropriate the gold of Venezuelans deposited as international reserves in the United Kingdom.

“Today an English judge of first instance made an extravagant decision on the recognition they make of the amazing Guaidó as the alleged head of state of the South American country?, the vice president questioned.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry stated that the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) will immediately appeal this decision, described as an act of piracy that violates the right to health and life of the people, by depriving them of the necessary resources to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

The case reached British courts after the Bank of England refused to hand over to its Venezuelan counterpart the equivalent of $ 1 billion in gold from the reserves it holds in its London vaults.

The BCV authorities explained that the funds would be delivered to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which would be in charge of managing the purchase of medical supplies, food and medicines to combat the disease, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
