Mayabeque volleyball player Ailama Cesé Montalvo

Mayabeque, Cuba: Outstanding volleyball player Ailama Cesé Montalvo will participate in her second season with the Uralochka NTMK club of the Russian Super League.

Speaking to the Granma newspaper from Yekaterinburg, the girl from Batabanó explained that due to the pandemic she could not finish the League last year, although the organizers decided to deliver medals and her team, with 13 games won and three lost finished third.

?Thanks to my coaches in Cuba, I became a versatile volleyball player. I was only an auxiliary attacker and in Uralochka I played as opposite, although I prefer the first of those positions. In Russia they delve into technique, tactics and skill development; in Cuba they insist more on the physical?, she said.

She recognizes that she must work more on the effectiveness of the reception and better defense on the field, with only 1.86 meters high, she needed to dedicate a lot of effort to the attack, to outwit blockers that exceed 1.90 meters.

If you do not receive with quality, it is difficult to have a pass that facilitates the offensive, after which you have to join the defense. Everything comes in a chain, she added.

About her family in the land of fishermen, she explained that they are her most demanding critics. She also feels a great commitment to her teachers at the School for Sports Initiation School (EIDE) and the pre-selection.

Her parents, grandmother and uncles hope her, beyond seeing the advance in volleyball, to be a good person.
