Russia concludes clinical trials of Covid-19 vaccine at Vektor center.

Moscow: Next September 30th, the second phase of clinical tests with volunteers of the Russian variant of the vaccine against the Covid-19 pandemic, proposed by the Center for Virology and Biotechnology ‘Vektor’, concludes, Prensa Latina publishes.

The head of the Federal Service for Control of Consumption and Population Welfare, in charge of epidemiological surveillance, Anna Popova, pointed out that it is a vaccine based on peptide antigens, the injection of which was applied to first patients with an interval of 72 hours.

Popova explained that this route to carry out the tests was suggested by the Russian Ministry of Health as one of the conditions for their subsequent registration, the capital’s television said.

In addition, the head of the organization, to which the ‘Vektor’ center is attached, pointed out that 0.6 percent of the Russian population (more than one million 30 thousand people) contracted SARS-CoV-2 at different levels of complication of that disease.

To detect the aforementioned ailment, 172 types of tests are used here. More than 38 million tests have been carried out since last March, making Russia the leader in that registry for every 100,000 inhabitants, she said.

In addition, the official pointed out that this nation provided aid to another 35 states, to which it supplied equipment to perform diagnostic tests and the test kits themselves, with a figure that is close to a million in that last parameter, she clarified.

The head of the body known in Russia as Rospotrebnadzor assured that the population immune to the aforementioned disease ranges between 5 and 50 percent in the administrative divisions of this country.
