Santiago de Cuba: The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, recognized the comprehensive advance of Santiago de Cuba, by summarizing the government visit that for two days evaluated the progress of important development programs in this territory on the which highlighted that of the 59 indications registered in the two previous routes, 53 have been fulfilled, Radio Reloj reports.

“After seven months”, he explained, “in which we have been focused on the economic and financial problems of the country and especially in the confrontation with COVID-19, with the return to the new normality, we reinitiated this system of work visits in which one feel very stimulated by the learning, by the things you observe and also because they allow us to verify and unblock unresolved problems, as well as to support the work of the territories”.

As he added, in this result of the past visits a high level of response to the indications is expressed, since the remaining six are in process and have been specified, while now they have again been able to appreciate that environment of creativity, work and effort, in a province where new things have been achieved every time.

In a special way, it recognized the response of the territory to COVID-19, which has allowed it to accumulate five and a half months without having positive cases, as a result of the systematic and cohesive work in the application of the confrontation measures by the Health sector, the Party, the Government, the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior, and especially for the conscious participation of the people of Santiago.

However, he insisted that no one should be trusted, because “that at this time we do not have positive cases in Santiago de Cuba, we cannot deny the cases that there may be, the possibility that there are asymptomatic people walking on the street and simply do not know they detect, because it is one of the ways of the behavior of the disease, but above all because we cannot trust ourselves of a disease that is lurking.

“Now the new normality demands more of us, we have to be more demanding in the investigation, more timely in detecting any cases that may exist, more timely also in working with suspects and their contacts because now the challenge is not to fall into outbreaks, and if it occurs it is necessary to get out of that situation as quickly as possible”.

Regarding the considerations about the places personally visited, Díaz-Canel highlighted the experience of La Fortaleza farm, of Aida Dolz, as one of those that should be multiplied immediately because the things that have been criticized in other places there work well, and he said that by identifying 400 producers to generalize the project, the demand for pork is resolved in the country.

In the same sense, he valued the importance for the nation of the new cement factory that is being built with Cuban capital to the east of this city. It will be a totally new plant, with the latest cutting-edge technology in the production of the important aggregate, and it is a sign of the strength with which Cuba continues to advance.

It should be noted that previously. Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and Vice Prime Ministers Alejandro Gil Fernández, Roberto Morales Ojeda, Inés María Chapman Waugh and Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca presented the assessments that they checked in sectors under their attention together with a group of ministers.

Especially, Valdés Mesa pointed out that the coffee recovery program until 2030 is going well and that in the important exportable item the province can shorten that term to arrive before the date set at 8,400 tons that it must then contribute to the nation. He added that there is motivation in the coffee massifs and this year they will meet the set amount.

“It is very important,” the President said, “to also advance in the economic-social strategy, in the production of food, in housing, in the problems of the population such as the supply of water, mainly in Palma Soriano and San Luis, in the solution to the deterioration of the roads and transportation problems, aware of the economic situation the nation is going through”.

When addressing this problem and the impact that the announced economic ordering process should have on it, he said that it is called to break the theft and diversion of resources together with the chain of defaults, and regarding the monetary and exchange unification he reiterated the confidence that the population must have, because long before applying it, everything that must be done will be explained.

As an essential complement to the current situation, he urged to continue defending the application of science, innovation and the computerization of society, to increase the self-training of cadres and further promote local and territorial development projects, and the deployment of the strength of the organs of People’s Power.

“These are times when we have to continue promoting good energies with the impetus of our population, to continue defending our conviction of not surrendering to anything”, said Díaz-Canel before directors of the territory headed by the First Secretary of the Party in the province, Lázaro Expósito Canto, and the governor at this instance, Beatriz Johnson Urrutia.

“What we learned”, he emphasized, “what was appreciated and contributed in the meeting with the population of Santiago de Cuba shows us that it was necessary to start over the government visits here, and that love for Cuba fills us with hope and optimism,  it mobilizes us, because thinking as a country is preparing the future ”.

Once the analysis was concluded, Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, and several members of the delegation that traveled to this city, pay a tribute to the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, and the Apostle José Martí, by laying flowers in front of their respective funeral monuments in the patrimonial cemetery Santa Ifigenia.
