Havana: The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, participates today in the closing of the scientific workshop Science in the construction of Cuban society and culture, which takes place at the University of Havana, Prensa Latina publishes.

The meeting was a space for debate between academics, researchers, teachers and students for four consecutive days, to exchange views on the challenges of science on the Island.

According to the Twitter account of the Presidency, the president attends this last day, in which Eduardo Torres, president of the Don Fernando Ortiz House of Higher Studies, will report on the event.

The intervention of the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, Elba Rosa Pérez, who will refer to the current state of science, innovation and technology in the country, is also scheduled.

Topics such as sustainable development, economy, culture, education, technology, innovation and scientific thought, were present in these days; reflections that were the starting point for the elaboration of a final document.

A set of ideas from the scientific community will emerge from this event, which should serve as the basis for executive functions and decision-making in society, BioCubaFarma’s advisor and one of the meeting’s speakers, Dr. Agustín Lage Dávila, said.

Since last November 3, the workshop has been held, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Don Fernando Ortiz house of high studies.
