Mayabeque, Cuba: Sixteen new projects are put into practice at the Liliana Dimitrova Horticultural Research Institute, of Mayabeque, located in the municipality of Quivicán.

The objective is to obtain varieties such as tomato, aubergine and pepper destined to satisfy the demands of the population.

According to the Master in Biological Sciences, Alicia Fernández Miranda, director of this institution, they promote good agricultural practices, plant breeding and agro-ecology in favor of food sustainability.

The development of new technologies, innovation, nutritional culture, the transformation of management forms and the reduction of imports are priorities for the Cuban economy.
