Mayabeque, Cuba: The collective of the Institute of Animal Science (ICA), of Mayabeque, perfects its technologies for the benefit of animal nutrition, the development of Cuban livestock and import substitution.

The work of these science professionals has repercussions at the national and international level.

According to the director of the ICA, Doctor of Science José Andrés Díaz Untoria, the institution is not only involved with technology transfer but will also work with everything related to pre and postgraduate training, in very strategic alliances with institutions both in the province, of the network of universities, of higher education, ministry to which they belong.

?Our work for so many years has been reflected with a group of technologies, introduced in production conditions, today with recognition and support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Azcuba and other entities from both the state and non-state sectors that they accompany us throughout the process?, Díaz Untoria explained.

Feeding through pastures and forages, protein plants, by-products of agribusiness and encilations for pigs and other animals, as well as the link with producers and professional training are achievements of the ICA collective during these 50 years.

They also work with the productive center of Quivicán to seek alternatives for the benefit of this territory, a task to be extended to other territories of Mayabeque. Research is a benchmark in the development of livestock and animal nutrition.
