Mayabeque, Cuba: The music group Rumberos de Mayabeque celebrates this year, the fifth anniversary of its foundation, with a varied program of activities to promote culture and get closer to this musical complex.

In five years, this group represents the qualities of the rumba showing on stage the mixture of Afro-Cuban music and dance, which constitutes identity and tradition of a genre recognized as intangible heritage of humanity by the United Nations Organization for the Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) in 2015.

According to its director, Raúl Cabrera, they created a rumba movement in the province, from which two groups emerged: Miguel y su do rumbero, and Timba Rumba.

They recently received, from the José Martí Cultural Society, the Honrar honra award. Last year they obtained the National Distinguished Collective Distinction.
