Ratifican Cuba y la Unión Europea voluntad de fortalecer relaciones bilaterales.

Cuba: During the third Joint Council between Cuba and the European Union (EU), which held virtual session yesterday, both parties ratified their willingness to continue working to strengthen bilateral and cooperation relations, Radio Rebelde reports.

A note published on the official website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry (Cubaminrex), informs that the event was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Greater Antilles, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell.

The EU official confirmed the support of this regional bloc for the Cuban resolution against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the government of Washington, and its rejection of the inclusion of Cuba in the US list of nations sponsoring terrorism.

Likewise, he highlighted the importance of cooperation actions with Cuba, which included support for confronting COVID-19.

By the way, the Cuban Foreign Minister said that the devastating effects of the pandemic show the urgency of strengthening multilateralism and cooperation in the international system to face common challenges in better conditions.

In this difficult context, he said, the steps that both parties have taken to deal with the disease and its consequences are encouraging, and additional opportunities for mutual cooperation arise in this area.

Rodríguez Parrilla also expressed his satisfaction with the efforts of both parties to keep active the different exchange mechanisms established by the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement and to comply with the meeting schedule.

The Third Joint Council, he said, ratifies the mutual will to strengthen a transparent political dialogue, based on mutual respect, equality and reciprocity.

Also participating in the meeting were the First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, Ana Teresita González Fraga, the Cuban Ambassador to the European Union, Norma Goicochea Estenoz, and the Commissioner for International Associations, Jutta Urpilainen.
