Mayabeque, Cuba: Public Health Professionals at the Doctor Mario Muñoz Monroy Home for the Elderly, in Mayabeque, give priority to the care and well-being of the elderly in times when the new Coronavirus threatens.

In this medical institution, they take into account health protocols to avoid contagion with Covid-19 because they have the necessary resources to guarantee a healthy old age.

The Director of the center, Master Olga Lidia Hernández Rodríguez, explained that from the 60 beds they have, they are all covered and in a position to face this type of illness.

“We have worked hard throughout this stage, we have not had Covid-19, or another respiratory condition, we maintain hygienic-sanitary measures since in addition to being demented, some are mentally or psychiatric retarded and we managed to keep their nasobuco as long as possible”, Hernández Rodríguez explained.

?In case that any respiratory symptoms appear in the center, we have an isolation room prepared from the beginning of the pandemic. Quickly, upon isolation, the entire protocol for these cases is fulfilled and the specialists of the Municipal Hygiene Center made the PCR and if it is positive, the patient is transferred to the hospital center?, the director of the Mayabeque Nursing Home concluded.
