Entidades agrícolas de Batabanó aumentan el empleo de tabaquina.

Mayabeque, Cuba: The use of Tabaquina, a biological product that favors the healthy development of the main cold season crops such as beans, potatoes and tomatoes, increases in agricultural areas of Batabanó.

Fighting whitefly, legume flower thrips, spider mites and aphids in plantations is the priority to raise crop yields in 2021.

The demand for the product grows every day, the Director of the Entomophages and Entomopathogens Reproductive Center of the municipality, Jorge Hernández, says.

Today the entity’s new line of this product exceeds the production of 38 thousand liters of the botanical pesticide used in 351 hectares.

The specialist added that this natural insecticide is made with the residue of the tobacco industry and has nicotine as an active principle.

Batabanó began the project in 2020 to combat aggressive pests in bean plantations that affected the grain harvests in the country.
