Mayabeque, Cuba: When the number of pregnant women infected with the new Coronavirus grows in the country, in Madruga, professionals linked to the Maternal and Child Care Program (PAMI), reinforce surveillance and epidemiological control of pregnant women.

The PAMI advisor in the territory, Rivel Morejón Neira, explained that in the face of the danger of the pandemic, pregnant women at risk remain admitted to the Maternity Home, say women with heart disease, diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, prone to reaching serious stages of the disease, according to the statistics of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), in the behavior of Covid-19.

Madruga currently has 76 pregnant women cared for by the family doctor and nurse and specialists in gynecology and obstetrics, who carry out health promotion and prevention actions against the pandemic.

In addition, in connection with other entities, the delivery of food and other basic necessities is guaranteed, according to availability so that they can stay at home and take care of themselves.

The town maintains the infant mortality rate at zero during the last 13 months and continues to work in favor of this indicator in times when Covid-19 is a challenge in the effort to preserve life.
