Mayabeque, Cuba: The Nueva Paz Agricultural Company stands out for its contribution to the national economy given the current results of the cold season.

Conceived between the months of November to February, crops such as potatoes, rice, beans and corn contribute more than 700 thousand tons to the country’s economy on average, a figure necessary to cover the basic basket.

In keeping with this effort, the sowing activities of the cold season in the territory have had significant results.

According to the agricultural director of the Agricultural Company, Jesús Gómez, they fulfill 95 percent of meats, 93 percent of vegetables, and 110 of fruits.

The Company does not produce a high number of cereals although the territory, like others in the province, has high volumes of land and water to assume the increased productivity.

In the months of January to April, the land area of ??the municipality is covered with 110 tons of grains and 83 hectares of potatoes, which are in good pregnancy.

In the midst of the complex economic and financial situation the country is going through, the municipality of Nueva Paz manages resources for the purchase of equipment that guarantees the agricultural production program in the current year.

With a defined mission, the company produces and markets agricultural products, efficiently complying with the proposed plans. For the next few months it is expected that the territory will comply with what has been assigned.
